| Tracy
volunteered with both Van Buren Fire Department and Ellettsville Fire Department. During the years of 1981-1987, Tracy was also a paid driver as well as Assistant Fire Chief (1983-1985). Tracy died on January 8, 1987. |
Jan
served with Van Buren Fire Department from 1982-1988, first as a volunteer then as a paid driver. Jan was Fire Chief from 1983-1988, he had stepped down from Chief to paid firefighter prior to his death August 8, 1988. |
Jon
joined Van Buren Fire Department as an intern, through Indiana University, in July of 2003. Jon was pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety and due to graduate in December 2003. Jon died November 28, 2003. |

When I am called
to duty, God, Whenever flames may rage, Give me strength to save some life, Whatever be its age. Help me embrace a little child, Before it is too late, Or save an older person, From horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert, And hear the weakest shout, And quickly and efficiently, To put the fire out.
