The Van Buren Township Fire Department is mourning the loss of fellow firefighter Jon Fillippo.
 Jon was taken from us unexpectedly on Nov. 28, 2003 when he was accidentally struck by a car on Interstate I-65 on the northwest side of Indianapolis after being involved in a minor traffic accident.
Jon was participating in an internship program through Indiana University for his degree in Occupational Heath and Safety. Jon had just completed his State Test For Firefighter I/II the Monday just before his accident. He was due to graduate from IU on
December 20, 2003.

We are proud to announce that Jon did pass his State Test for Firefighter I/II.
